School Year 2024 Coming to an End

At the beginning of November, the young people from seventh grade wrote their first national final exam. The papers are now being corrected and graded by examiners in other parts of the country. The teachers are just as excited as the “candidates” about the results, which will be published at the end of January. The bar is set high, as Robert Vukeni graduated with the top grade in last year’s class. A so-called Aggregate 4 cannot be beaten. (To explain: even an Agg. 12 would still be a “one minus”). Robert is now continuing his education at a secondary school in Kampala with the help of a government scholarship.  For the younger children at primary school, not only the calendar year but also the school year is coming to an end next week. The former secondary school students, who are supported by UgandaKids through our scholarship program, will go on their long holidays until February. Many are in boarding schools and return to their relatives or foster parents after months.
